Miami will compete in the 2025 Terry’s Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational at Walt Disney World Resort’s State Farm Field House at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Thanksgiving Day on November 27 and the following day on November 28.
BYU, who will be nationally ranked, Dayton and Georgetown are the other three teams competing with Miami. Miami is 2-2 all-time versus BYU, with the last game a 107-86 Miami win in 1989. Dayton holds an 8-1 advantage over Miami, winning the last game versus the Hurricanes 76-60, also in Kissimmee.
Georgetown leads the all-time series with Miami 19-12 with a 6-2 advantage on neutral courts. All but the first three games between Georgetown and Miami occurred when the Hurricanes were in the Big East. Georgetown and Miami have not played since 2004, when the Hurricanes left the Big East.
Gary Parrish of CBS Sports has BYU third in his top 25 and 1 rankings. BYU signed the ninth-ranked 2025 class per the 247Sports rankings that includes the consensus top player, A.J. Dybantsa. BYU advanced to the NCAA Tournament regional semifinal for the first time since 2011 before losing 113-88 to Alabama.
Dayton finished 23-11 during the 2024-25 season and advanced to the second round of the NIT before losing to Chattanooga in the second round. Miami Senior High School alum Anthony Grant is the Dayton head coach. Grant was mentioned as a potential candidate to be the Miami head coach before Jai Lucas was hired.
Georgetown improved to 18-16 in their second season under Ed Cooley. Nebraska eliminated Georgetown in the second round of the inaugural College Basketball Crown. Georgetown has not earned an NCAA Tournament berth since winning the Big East Tournament Championship in 2021.
Playing in Kissimmee will be a good early-season test for Miami in their inaugural year under Lucas. Miami will host Jacksonville on November 3 in the first game for Lucas as the Miami head coach. The remainder of the 2025-26 non-conference schedule is still being finalized and will be announced at a later date.
