The Miami Hurricanes will be playing their third ACC road game already, and they will be a big favorite in Death Valley against the Clemson Tigers. FanDuel has the Hurricanes as 16.5-point favorites heading into the primetime showdown.
Miami is coming off of a 52-3 win over Central Michigan and has won its first four games by an average of 45 points, which is a little distorted by a 70-point win over Florida A&M.

The Canes are projected to roll 33-17 with the total set at 49.5.
Miami is a heavy road favorite at Clemson
Since joining the ACC in 2004, the Hurricanes are 3-6 against the Tigers (7-7 overall) and have lost in their last three trips to Clemson, but they got the last win of the series, a 28-20 decision at Hard Rock Stadium in 2023.
Clemson has won three straight since opening with a 51-10 loss at LSU. The Tigers haven't necessarily been pleasing to the eyes, but they are winning in a practical way that should remind people that Dabo Swinney can still coach a little despite those of us who expected his demise.
Still, Miami is a big favorite, and it should be. The Hurricanes have advantages at nearly every position on the field, and the Tigers are trying to work with a very shaky freshman quarterback, Tait Reynolds, whose only job appears to be not to mess things up.
Clemson showed a focus on time of possession in its Week 4 run on the road against Cal, and it wouldn't surprise me if the Tigers tried to continue that trend and play a very conservative game to limit Miami's offensive possessions.
The Hurricanes are still trying to work out some kinks on both sides of the ball, but there are significant signs of improvement, especially with the pass rush on defense. Darian Mensah had sent the word to his secondary receivers that they needed to do more to help out Malachi Toney and that message seemed to be received.
However, Mario Cristobal is still smarting over some of the penalties from the win against the Chippewas, and he knows that 13 penalties for over 100 yards won't fly against Clemson.
"We have to be a little bit more sensible as it relates to a block on a quarterback," he said in the postgame press conference. If it is called, then we have to work on it and clean it up. I saw a lot of aggressive play that ended up in penalties, and we didn't have that before tonight."
