Daniel Cuvet hit the go-ahead double in the eighth inning and Miami earned a 2-1 win at Boston College on Friday afternoon. Miami won its sixth consecutive ACC game and is over .500 for the first time in the conference this season. Three Miami pitchers held Boston College to five hits to earn the win.

Miami scored first when Bobby Marsh stepped on home plate on a Michael Torres fielder's choice. Boston College answered quickly in the bottom of the fifth inning when an Esteban Garcia sacrifice fly scored Vince Cimini to tie the game at one. The rest of the game was a pitchers duel until Cuvet's heroics.

Griffin Hugus started for Miami and pitched six innings, allowing the one run on four hits with two walks and one strikeout. Carson Fischer relieved Hugus and pitched 1.2 innings, allowing one hit to earn the win. Brian Walters pitched the final 1.2 innings to earn his fifth save.

Walters faced only three batters when Tanner Smith threw out Josiah Ragsdale attempting to steal for the final out of the eighth inning. Second baseman Dorian Gonzalez made a diving grab and tagged Ragsdale out to end the inning. Ragsdale could have wound up on third base if not for Gonzales' web gem.

Boston College starting pitcher A.J. Colarusso matched the Miami pitchers, lasting eight innings and allowing the two earned runs on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts. John Kwiatkowski pitched the ninth inning for Boston College and allowed a walk but faced three batters by getting a double play to end the frame.

Miami will go for its fourth consecutive series win on Saturday at noon. Miami and Boston College will play the Eagles annual ALS Awareness Game on Sunday at noon, with the game at Fenway Park to conclude the series. Miami returns home next weekend to host North Carolina State.
