Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Carson Beck with 2:13 left in the first half to give the Hurricanes a 7-0 lead. The TD pass was the first official attempt by Toney. C.J. Daniels caught a critical two-point conversion pass from Toney to get Miami with 24-21 versus Louisville.
Miami had been stagnant offensively for most of the first half. The Beck TD reception concluded a five-play, 90 yard drive in 3:08. Defensive back Keionte Scott returned an interception 38 yards for a TD 23 seconds after the Beck TD reception to extend the Miami lead to 14-0.
The reception was the first for Beck of his collegiate career. Beck now has the trifecta of a passing TD, rushing TD and receiving TD in his career. Toney completed his own career triple crown with a passing TD, receiving TD and rushing TD as a true freshman during the 2025 season.
On the TD, Beck handed off to Toney, ran to the right at midfield and passed back to the Miami QB, who was escorted into the end zone by four Hurricanes' offensive linemen. Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson went to the gimmick play to wake up the Hurricanes' offense.

Beck later added his own TD pass with a 61-yard score to Keelan Marion. Dawson had to get creative with Miami playing without WRs C.J. Daniels, the Hurricanes' leader in TD receptions and reserve Tony Johnson, who has been playing well over the past three games.
Toney added another highlight video play to his candidacy for the ACC Rookie of the Year and the National Freshman of the Year. Toney entered play on Saturday leading all freshmen nationally with 52 receptions and was second with receiving 621 yards during the 2025 season. Not bad for a three-star prospect.
