Mike Norvell continues to make FSU football look like a joke and Miami can't help but laugh

How can anyone take Mike Norvell seriously and why does Florida State even bother? It's one thing if the Miami Hurricanes didn't have to share a conference with the Seminoles, but this is making everyone look bad.

In case you missed it, the Seminoles coach has decided not to release a depth chart for their Week Zero game against mighty New Mexico State and says that he probably won't do it at all this season.

It's a curious decision to say the least. Why has Norvell decided to do this? Maybe Florida State is so powerful that there isn't much of a difference between the first team and the third team...or maybe the Seminoles are so lacking in talent that there isn't much of a difference between the first team and the third team.

"As we look at different dynamics of how guys might be utilized in certain packages….if you have four different personnel packages and a guy's starting in a handful of them and not starting in any others, well is he a starter? Is he not? It's still kind of up in the air," Norvell said.

I'm sure if Norvell had his choice, the games would be played in a closed, empty stadium without keeping score or statistics. He also said he feels as good about this year's Seminoles as he has in a few years, which is also what he said last year. 

It really doesn't matter because FSU has to get rid of him if the Seminoles want any chance at being anything other than the little brother that they've been. And there's no need to feel bad for them because  they were the ones that threw crazy money at him the minute he had an inkling of success. 

Norvell is a joke and so is FSU football as long as he's in charge. The Seminoles are supposed to be running neck and neck with Miami in the undermanned ACC and, instead, they have decided to fade into the pack because they put their program in the hands of a guy that couldn't even beat UCF! 

Miami has been in this position before. The Hurricanes had to save FSU from its failed Willie Taggart experiment back in 2019 and they did. Miami beat FSU in Doak and Greg Rousseau had about 15 sacks in the game. The Seminoles fired Taggart the next day, and you figure they would actually try to get it right, but instead they hired Norvell and then were so excited the minute he won a few games that they gave him one of the worst contract extensions in the history of sport. 

Mike Norvell will not put out a depth chart before the Miami game, and he'll never have to worry about not releasing another depth chart this season because FSU is going to fire him and then try to crowdsource the money to pay his ridiculous buyout. It's a shame that the once proud program has had to continue to rely on its biggest rival to bail them out of their bad decisions, but the Seminoles gave up their pride long ago.
