Defensive backs Keionte Scott and Jakobe Thomas, defensive lineman Rueben Bain, offensive lineman James Brockermeyer and Francis Mauinoa and wide receiver Malachi Toney were all selected as All-Americans on Wednesday by some combination of CBS Sports, On3 and Pro Football Focus.

None of the Miami players who earned All-American were unanimous first-team. Center James Brockermeyer and right tackle Francis Mauigoa earned CBS Sports' first-team All-American. Defensive lineman Rueben Bain, defensive back Keionte Scott and wide receiver Malachi Toney were named second-team CBS Sports All-Americans.

Brockermeyer transferred from TCU and earned third-team All-ACC in the official conference voting. The Miami offensive line was one of the best in college football, ranking fifth nationally, allowing 3.33 tackles for loss and eighth, permitting 0.92 sacks per game.

Scott has 44 tackles, is second on Miami with 10.0 tackles for loss, has 3.0 sacks, one interception that he returned for a touchdown, five passes defended, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. An injury has kept Scott out for the past two games.

"Freshman of the Year: Malachi Toney | Fr. | Miami
Toney kicked off his career with an expectation-defying bang. The former three-star recruit was everything Miami could have asked for and more. He finished the regular season ranked sixth nationally in catches with 84 and paced the ACC with seven touchdown receptions. Toney's elite speed also helped him assert himself as one of college football's top all-purpose threats, as he ran for 89 yards and a touchdown and served as the Hurricanes' primary punt returner."

Mauigoa earned On3 First-Team All-American and Bain and safety Jakobe Thomas were named second team by the outlet. On3 praised Mauigoa for his athleticism at 6'6 and 335 pounds. Mauigoa has allowed three sacks in the past two seasons and only four hurries in 12 games in 2025.

Thomas is second on Miami with 49 tackles, has 3.5 TFLs, 3.0 sacks, is the Hurricanes' co-leader with four interceptions and has two passes defended. Scott and Thomas have been huge transfer additions for Miami in a rebuilt secondary.

Bain earned first-team All-American as an edge defender and Toney was named the flex by Pro Football Focus. Bain earned a 93.0 overall grade from PFF to tie with David Bailey of Texas Tech for the best among all edge defenders and he is the only Power Four Edge rusher with a top 10 grade as a run defender and pass rusher.

Toney was named the best true freshman nationally by PFF. Makai Lemon of USC is the only WR nationally who exceeded Toney's 90.3 PFF grade. Toney did not have any drops in 84 catchable targets and leads power four receivers with 623 yards after the catch per PFF. PFF also grades Toney with the second-highest wins above metric.

More All-American Honors to come

Expect Miami to have more All-Americans when the Associated Press and ESPN announce their teams later this month. Bain, Mauinoa and Toney are the most likely to earn more All-American nods during the 2025 postseason.
