Miami rising sophomore wide receiver JoJo Trader was named by Cooper Petagna of 247Sports as one of his potential second-year breakout players on offense in a post to X on Wednesday. Trader had six receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown during his true freshman season in 2024.
With Miami missing multiple receivers in the Pop-Tarts Bowl loss to Iowa State, Trader had three receptions for 61 yards and a TD. Trader was the 42nd prospect, ninth WR and ninth player in Florida out of Hollywood, Chaminade-Madonna in the 2024 class.
Trader is the leading returning receiver among the Miami WRs in 2025. Miami has an extremely young WR corps entering spring practice. The addition of LSU WR C.J. Daniels through the transfer portal was critical for Miami to add experience at the position to the 2025 roster.
Trader is the highest-rated WR on the 2025 Miami roster per the 247Sports rankings. Trader is one of five WRs on the Miami roster with a grade of at least 90 from 247Sports with a .9803. Fellow rising sophomore Ny Carr is second with a 0.9686 grade, 2025 signee Joshua Moore at 0.9435, RayRay Joseph at 0.9406 and Chance Robinson at 0.9260.

Trader was named as a potential breakout player by Petagna with LSU offensive tackle Weston Davis, Clemson OT Elyjah Thurmon and tight end Christian Bentancur and Nebraska WR Carter Nelson. Bentancur, Davis, Nelson and Thurmon were all four-star signees in the 2024 class.
Betancur had one reception for seven yards in 2024. Davis is not listed as receiving any snaps on the LSU website. Nelson had 10 receptions for 86 yards and a TD and Thurmon played 146 snaps in eight games, with one start, per the Clemson website. Petagna also named five potential second-year breakout defensive players.
Mississippi defensive lineman William Echols, Georgia edge rusher Joseph Jonah Ajonye, Ohio State DL Eddrick Houston, South Carolina DL Jaylen Brown and LSU CB PJ Woodland are the five 2025 potential defensive breakout players projected by Petagna.
