With eight players mentioned in the 247Sports "College Football's Top 100 Transfers: The biggest impact players on the move" writer Clint Brewster called Miami the most talented transfer portal class in a separate article as stated by his colleague Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U.

The 11 incoming transfers Miami added give the Hurricanes the fifth-ranked 2025 class in the 247Sports portal rankings. Miami has added eight four-star transfers and three three-stars in the 2025 class. Cooper Petagna wrote up the list of the top 100 2025 transfers.

Miami has the top transfer quarterback in Carson Beck from Georgia, the fourth-ranked defensive lineman in David Blay from Louisiana Tech and five of the top 14 defensive backs in the 2025 portal. With four of the five Miami incoming transfer DBs at cornerback, the competition for snaps there will be high in 2025.

Miami also returns 2024 freshman All-American CB O.J. Frederique and rising redshirt freshman Damari Brown who only played in two games in 2024 due to an injury that he occurred in the season-opening 41-17 win over Florida. The Miami secondary has been almost completely overhauled for 2025.

Mario Cristobal and Miami did serious work in the transfer portal

Jacksonville State transfer Zechariah Poyser is the second-ranked safety in the 2025 portal and one of only two inside the top 100 2025 transfers. Poyser is a projected 2025 Miami starter. The other starting is open. Rising sophomore Zaquan Patterson is the likely projected starter at the other safety unless Miami adds another transfer at the position.

Urrutia wrote extensively that "Miami transfers see significant rankings bumps in 247Sports update." LSU, Mississippi, Texas Tech and Oregon, who are the four transfer classes ranked ahead of Miami, are the only programs with more incoming blue chip players from the portal. The numbers support Miami having one of the most talented transfer classes.
