Nearly All-New 2025 Miami WR Depth Chart Set for Big Impact

After Miami lost its top six 2024 receivers, the depth chart will look very different for the wideouts in 2025.

Miami lost its top six receivers from 2024, led by record-setting wideout Xavier Restrepo. Head coach Mario Cristobal and wide receivers coach Kevin Beard added three transfer WRs and the return of sophomore JoJo Trader are expected to be at the top of the depth chart for Miami in 2025.

LSU transfer C.J. Daniels, Tony Johnson from Cincinnati and Trader are expected to be the starting WRs for Miami in 2025. BYU transfer Keelan Marion and junior RayRay Joseph also project on the two-deep WR depth chart.

Tight end Elijah Lofton leads the returnees on Miami with 150 receiving yards and running back Mark Fletcher is first among the players returning to Miami in 2025 with 10 receptions. Lofton and Trader are the only returnees on Miami who had receiving TDs during the 2024 season.

Daniels is the most accomplished and experienced WR on the 2025 Miami roster. Daniels projects to be an outside possession receiver for Miami. Despite missing most of spring practice with a foot injury, Daniels has become a vocal leader among the Miami WRs.

Trader is probably the most talented WR on the 2025 Miami roster. Trader had the best performance of his freshman season in the Pop-Tarts Bowl versus Iowa State with three receptions for 61 yards in a 41-38 Miami loss. Expect a breakout season from Trader in 2025.

Johnson is the projected starter in the slot. Joseph and true freshman Malachi Toney are battling to be the second-team slot receiver. Toney, who reclassified to the 2025 class, has received a lot of buzz throughout training camp as a potential explosive playmaker for Miami.

After two-year stints at BYU and Connecticut, Marion should have his biggest year as a WR for Miami. Marion was an All-American in 2024 as a kick returner at BYU. Marion will also provide Miami offensive coordinator versatility with the opportunity to line him up in multiple spots and give him carries.

Sophomores Ny Carr and Chance Robinson and 6'4, 205-pound freshman Joshua Moore provide Miami with depth at WR. New Miami QB Carson Beck should have a good WR corps to throw to in 2025. Miami will be tested in its August 31 opener against an elite Notre Dame defense.
