The Miami Hurricanes are rocking and rolling right now and are looking like the best team in Florida by far. Mario Cristobal has certainly shown that his team was more than just Cam Ward last season, and the Hurricanes are going to be a team to be reckoned with come later in the season, especially when it comes to the College Football Playoff.

Right now, with the way things are looking and the Hurricanes ranked No. 2 in the AP Top 25, Cristobal and the Hurricanes have the chance of a showdown with the Oregon Ducks in the second round. Being ranked No. 2 in the country would mean the Hurricanes would get a first-round bye and then play the winner of Oregon and Texas Tech.

If Oregon were to win that matchup in the first round, Cristobal would face his former team is which at that point would be the biggest game of the season for the Hurricanes. Many thought the Ducks would struggle without Cristobal, and then Miami would never find success with him, but it has been quite the opposite for both thoughts.

The Oregon Ducks were the No. 1 seed last season, but were taken out by No. 5 Ohio State. Miami, unfortunately, wasn't able to make it to the ACC Championship, which in turn left them out of the playoff, even being one of the last undefeated teams in the country.

Now, the tables could be turned, and it seems Miami will have the higher seeding, and Oregon will have to play a little bit more in order to make it further. Cristobal has yet to face the Ducks since leaving in 2021. So this would be a huge matchup if it were to happen.

Of course, if the playoff looks anything like the prediction above, the Ducks would have to get past Texas Tech first, which may not prove to be so easy, while Miami is sitting at home waiting for its opponents.
