The Miami Hurricanes are the No. 1 team in the country for the first time in over 20 years and to honor the moment, they’re bringing back the early-2000s glory days uniforms.
Miami is specifically honoring the 2001 squad that was loaded with future NFL stars. That team went 12-0 and won the national championship, beating Nebraska 37-14 in the Rose Bowl to claim the program's fifth title.

2001 throwback uniforms for Miami
The look features orange jerseys combined with white pants and white helmets, with the jerseys featuring green accents on the sleeves. The green-white-orange dynamic is also found in the form of a five-stripe pattern that runs down the jersey and the top half of the pants' side.
Miami and adidas unveiled the throwback uniforms in September to mark the 25th anniversary of the 2001 championship season. The program confirmed this week that it will wear the home version against Pittsburgh on Saturday at noon ET at Hard Rock Stadium. The white road version with green pants has not yet been scheduled.
The Hurricanes will also be adjusting the look on the field with a 2001-inspired custom endzone appearance.

The 2001 Hurricanes, coached by Larry Coker, are widely regarded as one of the most talented teams in college football history. The roster produced dozens of eventual NFL draft picks, including first-round selections Ed Reed, Clinton Portis, Jeremy Shockey, Andre Johnson, Bryant McKinnie, Phillip Buchanon and Jonathan Vilma, along with later stars such as Sean Taylor, Frank Gore, Vince Wilfork and Willis McGahee.
Miami's return to the top of the AP poll comes after a 43-35 win over FSU last week, combined with losses by previous No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Notre Dame.
The uniforms also mark one of the final major looks of the adidas era in Coral Gables as Miami is set to return to Nike beginning in July 2027 under a new 10-year agreement.
