The Miami Hurricanes have emerged as a serious contender for five-star wide receiver Tristen Keys following his official visit to Coral Gables over the weekend. Keys, the No. 1 wide receiver and No. 4 overall prospect in the 2026 class, is currently committed to LSU but indicated that Miami has made a significant impression.

"I'm ready for my mind and my heart to align with each other on one school," Keys said after his visit, suggesting he is open to reconsidering his commitment. He described Miami as "high for sure" on his list, signaling a potential shift in his recruitment.

Keys, a standout at Hattiesburg High School in Mississippi, had a stellar junior season in 2024 recording 58 receptions for 1,275 yards and 14 touchdowns. His performance earned him a spot in the 2025 Under Armour All-America Game.

Miami's coaching staff, led by head coach Mario Cristobal and wide receivers coach Kevin Beard, have been actively recruiting Keys, even after he committed to LSU. This past weekend the Hurricanes hosted multiple prospects, including Keys, as a major push to solidify the 2026 class.

Keys currently has scheduled official visits with three other programs outside of Miami. He will visit Tennessee from June 13-15, Alabama from June 17-19 and LSU on June 20-22. It remains unclear whether Keys will actually reopen his recruitment or if there is something going on behind the scenes with LSU. Regardless, the recent development is a glimmer of hope for Miami fans, and after securing the top player in the nation, OT Jackson Cantwell, it feels like anything is possible.

Miami's 2026 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 7 nationally (according to On3), featuring commitments from top prospects such as offensive tackles Cantwell and Ben Congdon, as well as CB's Camdin Portis, Jaelen Waters and Jontavius Wyman. The addition of Keys would vault Miami up the recruiting rankings and solidify the Hurricanes as a top program on the recruiting trail.
