Darian Mensah and Luke Nickel combined for six touchdown passes, Mark Fletcher Jr. and Javian Mallory each ran for two scores, and No. 7 Miami rolled past Florida A&M 77-7 on Thursday night at Hard Rock Stadium.

Miami defeats FAMU in dominant fashion
The Hurricanes scored on their first 11 possessions (outside of a kneel down) and led 49-0 at halftime and 77-0 after three quarters.
Mensah completed 14 of 15 passes for 252 yards and three touchdowns before giving way at halftime. Nickel was perfect, going 8 of 8 for 144 yards and three scores in the third quarter. Third-string quarterback Dereon Coleman later directed the backups.
Fletcher opened the scoring with a 46-yard burst and added a 1-yard plunge later in the first quarter. He finished with 105 yards on seven carries. Mallory scored on an 11-yard run just before halftime and broke a 52-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
After Fletcher's long run, Mensah hit Joshua Moore for a 55-yard touchdown on the next series. Fletcher's short score made it 21-0 after one quarter.
Mensah found Malachi Toney for a 19-yard touchdown on the first play of the second quarter, Girard Pringle Jr. scored from 4 yards out, Cooper Barkate caught a 9-yard scoring pass, and Mallory's 11-yard run sent Miami into the locker room with a 49-0 lead.
Nickel took over after the break and needed five plays to find Somourian Wingo for a 47-yard touchdown. He added a 33-yard strike to Vandrevius Jacobs and a 21-yard score to Vance Spafford. Mallory's 52-yard run capped the third quarter and made it 77-0.
Florida A&M's only points came with under seven minutes remaining in the game. Coleman completed a 3-yard pass to Brennan Burton, who fumbled when hit by Caleb McKenzie. McKenzie recovered and returned the fumble for a touchdown.
The Hurricanes as a team finished 26 of 27 passing for 416 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions. They piled up 856 total yards (program record) and did not punt in the entire game. Toney led Miami with four catches for 96 yards and a score.
Florida A&M managed 107 total yards and four first downs for the game. Dustin Fletcher and Armond Parker split time at quarterback. The Rattlers punted throughout the first three quarters and converted 1 of 13 third downs.
The Hurricanes play at Wake Forest on Sept. 18 and Florida A&M hosts Tennessee State on Sept. 19.
