Norchad Omier scored 17 points on 7-10 from the field, 0-1 on three-point attempts and 3-5 from the free throw line with nine rebounds, two steals, one block, four turnovers and six fouls in his Las Vegas NBA Summer League debut for the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 116-115 loss to the Indiana Pacers.

The 17 points and nine rebounds on 7-10 from the field with excessive fouls are a typical Omier stat line. Omier averaged 15.3 points per game, 10.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.2 blocks, 2.2 turnovers and 3.2 fouls in his collegiate career with Arkansas State, Miami and Baylor.

Cleveland scored three points on 1-4 from the field and 0-1 on three-point attempts with five rebounds, one assist, one turnover and one foul while finishing plus three as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Los Angeles Lakers 87-85.

Cleveland and Omier were both signed to exhibit 10 contracts, which only guarantee their summer league roster spots and a chance to compete to make the team during training camp. If they do not make NBA rosters, Cleveland and Omier will have opportunities to earn G-League contracts.

Omier is listed as a center on the Cleveland summer league roster. In the modern NBA, Omier can be a center in a small lineup but seems more suited to be an undersized power forward. Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is a comp for Omier.

Cleveland only played 8:45 on Thursday. The Dallas roster is full of wings. Competing for playing time during the NBA Summer League will be a challenge for Cleveland. Cleveland and Dallas both play their next NBA Summer League games on Saturday. Cleveland plays the Milwaukee Bucks and Dallas plays the San Antonio Spurs.

Scheduled NBA Summer League games continue through July 17. The NBA Summer League consolation round begins on July 18, with the playoffs starting on July 19. Each NBA team has four regularly scheduled games in the Summer League with at least one matchup in the consolation round or playoffs.
