Mark the calendar. November 7 is shaping up to be one of the most loaded Saturdays college football has seen in years, and one of the headliners is Miami at Notre Dame.

Miami at Notre Dame
This is Miami's toughest game of the regular season, and it's not close. Notre Dame returns quarterback CJ Carr, who threw for 2,741 yards and 24 touchdowns in his first year as the starter and now looks like a real Heisman contender. Nine of the Fighting Irish's top ten tacklers are back as well and few teams in the country return that much proven production.
The Hurricanes have to replace Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor, who combined for 22 sacks last season before both were taken in the first round of the NFL Draft. Missouri transfer Damon Wilson II steps in to help fill that void, alongside a deep group of returning linemen. On offense, Duke transfer Darian Mensah takes over at quarterback now that Carson Beck, who led Miami to the national championship game, is gone to the NFL.
Miami won last year's meeting 27-24 at Hard Rock Stadium, and that result ended up deciding the final playoff spot in December. The committee picked 10-2 Miami over 10-2 Notre Dame, and Miami rode that break all the way to the national title game while Notre Dame stayed home. The rematch shifts to South Bend this time, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. on NBC.
Oregon at Ohio State
Dan Lanning is 48-8 in four seasons at Oregon. Ryan Day has that exact same record at Ohio State over the same stretch. Both programs have lived at the top of the sport for years now, and this game is really just a continuation of that.
The two split their last two meetings. Oregon won the 2024 regular-season game 32-31, and Ohio State got its revenge a few months later in the CFP quarterfinal, 41-21, on its way to winning the national title.
Alabama at LSU
Lane Kiffin left Ole Miss for LSU last winter and has rebuilt the roster. He brought in 41 transfers, including quarterback Sam Leavitt from Arizona State. It's the most aggressive roster overhaul in the sport this offseason, and this game will test whether it worked.
Alabama is still sorting out its own quarterback room, with Keelon Russell and Austin Mack competing for the job behind a rebuilt offensive line. The Crimson Tide have won three straight meetings in this series and lead it 58-27-5 all time. But LSU has a case to be favored at home for the first time since 2007 when these two meet in Death Valley.
Georgia at Ole Miss
Georgia brings back quarterback Gunner Stockton and 14 starters overall, with a defense that should once again rank among the best in the country. Ole Miss returns quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewan Lacy, who combined for 54 total touchdowns last season. Pete Golding now runs that team full-time after taking over for Kiffin.
These two split a wild pair of games in 2025. Georgia won 43-35 in Athens, and Ole Miss got its revenge in the Sugar Bowl quarterfinal, 39-34, on the way to the program's first CFP semifinal appearance. The rubber match is in Oxford this time, where Kirby Smart has never won a game as Georgia's head coach. The result will say a lot about whether Golding can keep Ole Miss's rise going without Kiffin.
BYU at Utah
BYU is chasing a fourth straight win in the rivalry under Kalani Sitake, who has the Cougars coming off a Big 12 title-game appearance. Utah is breaking in new head coach Morgan Scalley after Kyle Whittingham ran the program for 22 seasons. BYU already has one marquee date on the schedule this fall, hosting Notre Dame on October 17, so the Cougars will know exactly where they stand nationally by the time they reach Salt Lake City.
The Rest of the Slate
The SEC alone adds Texas A&M at South Carolina, Oklahoma at Florida, Arkansas at Auburn, Texas at Missouri, Vanderbilt at Mississippi State, and Kentucky at Tennessee. The Big Ten and Big 12 add Michigan State at Michigan, Penn State at Washington, and West Virginia at Texas Tech. If most of these teams are still ranked when November arrives, this slate could produce as many as nine ranked-versus-ranked matchups in a single day.
