Paul Finebaum is notorious for backing the SEC with every breath in his lungs, especially when it comes to the conference's place in the College Football Playoff and (usually) the National Championship.
However, Finebaum recently sang the tune of the Miami Hurricanes when he joined The Matt Berrie Show, and his reasoning for the switch-up is genuinely hysterical.
"I want Miami to win it all just to shut the Notre Dame fans up," Finebaum said after breaking down his favorites for this year's title.
Paul Finebaum just said what Miami fans (and everyone else) are thinking
Just like that, Finebaum put words to the feeling that the Canes' fans have had all postseason: Boy, wouldn't it be sweet to win the title and prove that Miami deserved to be in the Playoff instead of Notre Dame.
Ever since the final rankings were released, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have thrown a fit about being left out of the bracket, arguing that they had the better resume than the Hurricanes or the Texas A&M Aggies, despite both teams beating ND earlier in the year.
If Miami was able to blow past not only the Aggies (who the Canes defeated in the first round), but also the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes (who the Canes will play in the second round), as well as everyone else remaining in the bracket, the Fighting Irish would simply have to admit defeat.
Don't get too far out over your skis; this wasn't Finebaum saying that he expects Miami to win it all, no matter how sweet it would be. However, having an SEC-truther in the Canes' corner certainly didn't hurt as the postseason unfolded.
