PFF ranks Miami QB unit and Cam Ward number 1 nationally

Cam Ward is the highest graded quarterback by Pro Football Focus and Miami has the highest grade at the position in 2024 with the Hurricanes halfway through their regular season.

Miami is first nationally averaging 400.0 passing yards per game and 21 touchdown passes in 2024. Cam Ward leads the Football Bowl Subdivision averaging 369.8 passing yards per game, tied for first nationally with 20 TD passes, third with a 182.43 passer rating and fourth averaging 10.4 yards per attempt.

The above numbers have the Miami quarterback unit and Ward as the highest graded by Pro Football Focus with the Hurricanes halfway through the 2024 regular season. Miami is a big-play passing offense under Ward. The Hurricanes are first nationally with 97 completions of 10 or more yards and 43 of 20 or more.

Ward also leads FBS with 90 completions of 10 or more yards and 41 of 20 or more. Because of Ward, Miami is never out of a game. Miami has rallied from double-digit deficits in the fourth quarter in each of the past two games to defeat Virginia Tech and California. Miami did not trail in their first four games this season.

In the fourth quarter of the 39-38 comeback win over California last week, Ward completed 15 passes in 22 attempts for 238 yards and two TDs in the fourth quarter. Only 42 QBs nationally are averaging over 238 passing yards per game. Ward has been the best QB nationally through the first half of the 2024 season.
