Pitt running back Ja'Kyrian Turner will not play Saturday against No. 1 Miami after he was upgraded to probable on Thursday's ACC availability report.
The sophomore from Wildwood, Fla., has appeared in just three games this season due to a lower-body injury and missed last week's loss at Boston College.

Timeline of Turner's injury status
Turner was listed as questionable on Pitt's initial report for the Miami game and Thursday's update moved him to probable (likely to play/greater than 75% chance under ACC definitions).
Friday, however, it was revealed that Turner would be unavailable against the Hurricanes. He has not played since Oct. 10 against North Carolina.
Turner's limited 2026 production
In the three games he has played this season, Turner has 30 carries for 131 yards (4.4 average) and one touchdown, plus 10 receptions for 107 yards and one score. His last appearance came against North Carolina (five carries, 27 yards).
As a true freshman in 2025, he led Pitt with 140 carries for 745 yards and seven touchdowns while adding 25 catches for 150 yards. He has been a consistent contributor when healthy, including a 201-yard rushing performance at Georgia Tech last season.
Impact on Pitt's backfield
Without Turner, Pitt will lean on freshman Damon Ferguson Jr. and sixth-year back La'Vell Wright. Ferguson has emerged as the team's leading rusher with 83 carries for 438 yards and three touchdowns while Wright has added 59 carries for 242 yards and four scores.
Pitt is already without starting quarterback Mason Heintschel (torn ACL, season), so this adds another issue that the Panthers will have to overcome to pull of the upset against Miami.
Fifth-year senior Holden Geriner is expected to start under center against Miami. True freshman Corey Dailey, who started last week's 27-21 loss at Boston College (11-of-25 for 193 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions), could see time as well. Geriner previously made his first career start against North Carolina on Oct. 10, completing 27 of 44 passes for 219 yards and two interceptions in a 21-17 home loss. He entered in relief at Virginia Tech earlier in October and helped the Panthers hold on for a 35-33 win.
