Wide receiver Brashard Smith was the most explosive player on the Miami roster in 2023. Smith had nine carries for 132 yards and a touchdown, 22 receptions for 263 yards and two scores, one punt return for five yards and 20 kickoff returns for 579 yards and another score in 2023.

Smith was second on Miami with 968 all-purpose yards in 2023. There has been a lot of speculation as to why Smith ultimately transferred to SMU. Playing behind leading receiver Xavier Restrepo, Smith would have had limited snaps offensively. Sophomore Nathaniel Joseph will see an increase in snaps in 2024, with Smith transferring.

At 6'5, WR Colbie Young provided Miami with a big-bodied target who was third on Miami with 47 receptions for 563 yards and five TDs in 2023. Isaiah Horton, who is 6'4, is the most likely candidate to replace Young. No other Miami WR is taller than 6'2. Horton had 13 receptions for 168 yards and one TD in 2024.

Young never had a breakout game for Miami in 2023 like he did in 2022. Young had a season high 79 yards in the season opener versus Miami (Ohio) and a 2023 pinnacle of six receptions versus Clemson. Young had 15 receptions for 237 yards and three TDs in consecutive games versus Virginia Tech and Duke in 2022.
