Linebacker Corey Flagg has been a pivotal part of the Miami defense for the last four years. Flagg finished his Miami career with 179 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one forced fumble, two passes defended and one interception. Flagg will always be remembered for his overtime-clinching TFL versus Clemson.

Flagg started 23 games in four seasons with Miami. Flagg produced at least seven TFLs in the last three seasons. In 2021, Flagg led Miami with 60 tackles as a sophomore, starting all 12 games. After losing his starting role to Francis Mauigoa in 2023, Flagg was still a key contributor as the backup MLB.

Cornerback Davonte Brown never completely gained his footing with Miami. Brown had 10 tackles and one pass breakup in 11 games with Miami in 2024. Brown provided experience and length at CB. After one season following his transfer from Central Florida, Brown transferred to Florida State for 2024.

Miami has yet to replace the experience, play-making ability and in the case of Brown and Young size, that they, Flagg and Smith brought to the Hurricanes in 2023. Brown's brother Damari remains at the Miami roster at CB. Expect Miami to be active when the spring transfer portal opens from April 16 through 30.
