4 Miami football players in On3 top 100 for 2024 season
Edge rusher Rueben Bain, quarterback Cam Ward, middle linebacker Francisco Mauigoa and running back Damien Martinez are among the On3 "Top 100 Players in College Football for the 2024 Season" released Thursday. Bain is the only original Miami football signee on the list.
Bain signed with Miami in the 2023 class. Mauigoa transferred to Miami during the 2023 offseason. Ward transferred to Miami in January and Martinez joined the Hurricanes in April. Bain is ranked the 29th best player in college football in 2024, Ward is 55th, Mauigoa 81st and Martinez 83rd.
Bain is the third-ranked edge rusher behind James Pearce of Tennessee, the top player overall and Abdul Carter of Penn State, the 19th-ranked player. Bain is also the highest-ranked player in the ACC, ninth-ranked defensive lineman and 17th-best defensive player for 2024.
Ward is the seventh-ranked QB in the 2024 On3 ranking of the 100 best players. Five of the six QBs ranked ahead of Ward will play in the Big 10 or the SEC in 2024. Shadeur Sanders of Colorado who are rejoining the Big XII for the 2024 season is the only other QB in the top seven not in the Big 10 or SEC in 2024.

Ward is the only QB in the ACC in the On3 top 100 players for 2024. Ward is the eighth-ranked player and second QB in the 2024 On3 portal rankings. Julian Sayin' of Ohio State who was a 2024 Alabama signee and transferred is the only other transfer QB ranked ahead of Ward.
Mauigoa is fourth among the five LBs ranked in the top 100 players by On3. Harold Perkins of LSU, the 17th-ranked player, is the top LB in the On3 rankings. Barrett Carter of Clemson is the second-ranked LB and the only other ACC player at the position in the On3 rankings.
Martinez is the ninth-ranked RB in the On3 rankings. Omarrion Hampton of North Carolina who is 31st overall and Jadyn Ott of California who is 58th are the only RBs in the ACC ranked ahead of Martinez. Martinez and Ott were the first-team All-Pac 12 RBs during the 2023 season.
One noticeable absence from the On3 top 100 is Miami wide receiver Xavier Restrepo. Restrepo was named one of the top 10 2024 returning WRs by Pro Football Focus. There are 11 WRs ranked by On3 in their top 100 players for 2024. It would be surprising if Restrepo is not in the top 100 players by the end of the 2024 season.
