Four-star safety Hylton Stubbs became the highest-ranked commitment in the 2025 Miami class on Thursday. Stubbs reopened his recruitment after de-committing from USC on June 27. Miami beat out Florida in the end for the commitment from Stubbs. Florida, Miami and USC all hosted Stubbs for official visits in June.

The commitment from Stubbs moved Miami from the 14th class nationally up to 11th. Miami should move into the top 10 on Friday with an expected commitment from four-star center Seuseu Alofaituli. Stubbs is the 16th commit in the 2025 Miami class and the eighth commit on defense.

Miami secondary coach Chevis Jackson was the primary recruited for Stubbs and co-defensive coordinator Lance Guidry was the secondary recruiter. Miami became the prohibitive favorite for Stubbs after his de-commitment from USC. Jackson was late to Stubbs' recruitment after being hired by Miami in February.

Stubbs is the 56th prospect, sixth safety and ninth recruit in Florida out of Jacksonville Mandarin. Stubbs is the second safety and fourth defensive back to commit to the 2025 Miami class. Four-star safety Amari Wallace and cornerbacks Chris Ewald and Timothy Merritt committed to Miami in June.

Per Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U, Stubbs had "97 tackles (8.5 tackles for loss), six interceptions, six pass breakups, three fumble recoveries, 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles" as a junior in 2003. Stubbs had "84 tackles (3 TFL), 2 INT (one of which was a pick six) and a pass breakup in 2022" per 247Sports.

Andrew Ivins, the 247Sports Director of Scouting called Stubbs a "Well-rounded safety prospect that can defend the pass and the run." Ivins stated Stubbs has experience playing in multiple alignments defensively who is competitive in the box and in coverage. Stubbs will most thrive in an aggressive defense that puts him in a position to make plays per Ivins.
