Linebacker Francisco Mauigoa was selected as a second-team All-American and his Miami football teammates, edge rusher Rueben Bain, kicker Andres Borregales, running back Damien Martinez and wide receiver Xavier Restrepo were chosen to the third-team by longtime college football analyst Phil Steele in his eponymous annual publication.

The Miami football X account recognized the five Phil Steele All-Americans in a post on Saturday. Bain, Borregales, Mauigoa and Restrepo earned All-ACC in 2023. Martinez who transferred from Oregon State in April was named first-team All-Pac 12 during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Bain was named the ACC Rookie Defensive Player of the Year, third-team All-ACC and a unanimous Freshman All-American in 2023. Bain had a breakout true freshman season with 44 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 3.0 forced fumbles and 1.0 pass breakup.

After transferring from Washington State during the 2023 offseason, Mauigoa led Miami with 82 tackles, topped the ACC with 18.0 TFLs and had 7.5 sacks, 2.0 FFs, 4 PBUs and 1.0 interception. Mauigoa earned All-ACC honorable mention after the 2023 season.

Borregales finished 23rd nationally in 2023 with 110 points. By making 24 of 26 field attempts in 2023, Borregales finished 24th nationally with a percentage of 84.6. Borregales needs 21 field goals and 114 points to tie Michael Badgley's program records.

Martinez, the Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2022, rushed for 2,167 yards and 16 touchdowns and added 15 receptions for 187 yards in his two seasons with Oregon State. Martinez is the projected first-team RB for Miami in 2024. Sophomore Mark Fletcher is the projected primary second RB for Miami in 2024.

Restrepo needs 51 receptions to tie Mike Harley's program record and 830 yards to match Santana Moss' Miami career record. Restrepo will shatter those Miami career marks if he matches his 2023 season numbers of 85 receptions and 1,092 receiving yards.
