5-Star DL Armondo Blount getting closer to Miami football flip
Five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount could be getting closer to flipping to the Miami football program from Florida State after throwing up the U in a picture posted to X on Friday. Blount is the 23rd ranked prospect, fourth DL and fifth player in Florida out of Miami Central. Blount was previously committed to Miami.
After initially committing to the Miami football program in September, Blount pledged to Florida State in October. Mario Cristobal and defensive line coaches Jason Taylor and Joe Salave'a have relentlessly recruited Blount despite his commitment to Florida State. Several recruiting sites projected Blount to Miami this week.
Crystal balls from Steve Wiltfong the 247 Sports Director of Football Recruiting, Zach Blostein a Noles 247 contributor, Gaby Urrutia of Inside The U and Bud Elliott 247 Sports National Expert were all logged for Blount to Miami on Thursday. Five On3 recruiting analysts projected Blount to Miami since Thursday.
Miami was listed with a 25.6 percent chance for a commitment from Blount early on Thursday afternoon. Miami pushed in front of Florida State with a 61.2 chance for a Blount commitment to 33.7 percent for the Seminoles later in the day. As it stands early on Friday evening, Miami has a 94.1 percent chance for a Blount commitment.
Miami is also close to flipping four-star running back Jordan Lyle from Ohio State. Urrutia and Wiltfong both logged crystal balls for Lyle to Miami on Thursday night. Lyle has been committed to Ohio State since April. Lyle began trending to Miami on Thursday. Miami has a 95.2 percent chance for a Lyle commitment per On3.
Expect some movement in the 2024 Miami class until the Early National Signing Period begins on Wednesday and lasts through next Friday. Linebacker Vincent Shavers and offensive lineman Kavion Broussard are no longer committed to Miami as a Friday. Miami could add other players with several recruits visiting Miami this weekend.
