5-Star DL Armondo Blount trending for Miami Football flip from FSU
Projections from 247 Sports and On3 predict that five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount will flip to the Miami football program ahead of the Early National Signing Period that begins next Wednesday, December 20 and commences through Friday, December 22. Florida State currently has the third-ranked class and Miami is seventh.
A commitment from Blount would vault the Miami football program past Texas, Florida and Florida State into the fourth-ranked 2024 class. Georgia, Ohio State and Alabama would be the only classes ahead of Miami. Florida State would drop to fifth with the loss of Blount from its 2024 class.
Blount initially committed to Miami in September before flipping to Florida State in October. After reclassifying from the 2025 Class, Blount is the 23rd ranked prospect, fourth DL and fifth player in Florida in the 2024 class out of Miami Central. This would be the second straight year Miami signed an elite DL from Miami Central.
Steve Wiltfong the 247 Sports Director of Football Recruiting, Zach Blostein of Noles 247, Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U and 247 Sports National Expert Bud Elliott, who has ties to FSU, logged crystal balls for a Blount flip to Miami. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine projects Miami with a 93.5 percent chance of a Blount commitment.
Blount would join a Miami DL class that is already considered the best for 2024. Miami has 2024 commitments from five-star defensive tackle Justin Scott, four-star edge rushers Marquise Lightfoot, Booker Pickett Jr and Elias Rudolph, four-star DL Artavius Jones and three others.
Urrutia reported that Blount is taking an official visit to Miami this weekend beginning Thursday night. Blount was originally taking an official visit to Florida State this weekend before flipping his OV to Miami. Defensive line coaches Joe Salave'a and Jason Taylor are listed as the primary and secondary recruiters for Blount.
