Cam Ward cleans up week six awards

Cam Ward continued to clean up awards after his week six performance leading Miami to a comeback win over California.

Cam Ward earned multiple awards following his performance leading Miami to a 39-38 comeback win at California on Saturday night. The ACC, Associated Press, Davey O'Brien and Manning Awards and Pro Football Focus all honored Ward. Ward earned ACC QB of the Week for the fourth time, including his third in a row.

Ward completed 35 passes in 53 attempts for a season-high 437 yards and two touchdowns with a key 24-yard rushing TD in the fourth quarter. Ward is Ward is first nationally with 2,219 passing yards, 20 TD passes and 369.8 yards per game. Miami is first nationally with 2,400 passing yards, 400.0 passing YPG and 21 TDs.

The Associated Press named Ward their National Player of the Week. Ward was named one of the eight Manning Award Stars of the Week. Fans can vote for the Manning Star of the Week at AllstateSugarBowl.Org. This is the third time Ward was named one of the Eight Manning Stars of the Week.

Pro Football Focus named Ward their ACC and national QB of the week after receiving the highest grade by a signal caller this week at 91.0. Ward was named to the Davey O'Brien Great Eight for week six. Ward previously was named to the Davey O'Brien Great Eight on September 4 and 23.

Ward's streak of being named the ACC QB of the Week will end with Miami on a bye week. Miami plays at Louisville on October 19 before playing its first home game in more than four weeks on October 26 versus Florida State. Louisville has the fourth-ranked pass defense in the ACC allowing 199.6 yards per game.

California was second in the ACC in pass defense before Ward shredded the Golden Bears on Saturday. Ward completed 15 passes in 22 attempts for 238 yards in the fourth quarter versus California on Saturday. Ward continued his streak of throwing for over 300 to six games to start the season.
