Rivals.Com National Recruit Analyst stated it would be an upset if the Miami football program doesn't receive a commitment from four-star cornerback Chris Ewald when he announces his decision on June 27. The projection from Garcia was a part of his fact or fiction column.

Ewald is a four-star prospect, the 30th-ranked player nationally, the seventh prospect in Florida and the fourth-best CB in the 2025 class in the Rivals rankings. Ewald has official visits scheduled to Louisville the weekend of June 14 and Penn State June 21 per his 247Sports profile page.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine agrees with Garcia, giving Miami an 86.4 percent chance for a commitment from Ewald. Every other program is projected with less than a five percent chance of a commitment from Ewald. Ewald named a top-six of Auburn, Georgia, Louisville, Miami, Penn State and Tennessee in April.

Miami has received 10 unofficial visits from Ewald. Ewald previously visited Michigan eight times. All of the visits to Ann Arbor occurred through the end of November 2023 before Ewald de-committed from Michigan in January. No other program has more than five visits from Ewald.

"3. It would be an upset if Miami doesn't land local Rivals250 DB Chris Ewald Jr. next month.
Garcia: FACT. The one-time Michigan commitment has been fairly quiet of late, but he has gone public with a top group including Miami, Louisville, Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee and Penn State. Of the group, of course the Canes are most familiar, but plenty of trips are to be taken between now and the decision date of June 27. Ewald has been high on each program, with our eyes especially curious about Georgia, Auburn and Penn State. The Miami angle has been among the most consistent he has received since even before he reopened his recruitment back in January"

Miami has yet to receive a commitment from a CB in the 2025 class. Expect Mario Cristobal. defensive coordinator Lance Guidry and Jackson to focus on CB in the last six months before the 2025 class signs their National Letters of Intent during the Early Signing period in December.

Five-star prospect D.J. Pickett and four-star Ben Hanks are players to watch for Miami at CB in the 2025 class. If Miami can gain commitments from all three, they can develop an elite secondary in the future. Miami signed an elite offensive line in the 2023 class and a highly praised defensive line in 2024.
