CFB Recruiting analyst names Miami WR coach Kevin Beard top 3 recruiter nationally

Miami wide receivers coach Kevin Beard was named one of the top three recruiters nationally by 247Sports recruiting analyst Smoke Dixon. Dixon knows Miami well as a Coral Park Miami Senior High School alum. Before joining 247Sports, Dixon was on the XFL's D.C. Defenders and the Vanderbilt football staff.

Beard was a 2001 National Champion with Miami and is in his second stint on the Hurricanes' staff. In his first stint on the Miami staff, Beard was the Hurricanes' assistant director of football operations in 2014 and the WR coach and passing game coordinator in 2015. Mark Richt did not retain Beard after he replaced Al Golden.

Mario Cristobal rehired Beard during the 2023 off-season. The 247 2024 recruiter rankings list Beard 25th nationally and third in the ACC. Beard was responsible for Miami signing four-star WRs Ny Carr, Chance Robinson and Joshisa Trader. Trader is expected to be in the WR rotation for Miami in 2024.

Beard was the fifth-best recruiter among WRs coaches nationally and first in the ACC in 2024. Texas A&M's Holomon Wiggins, Junior Adams of LSU, Marcus Davis of Auburn and Chris Jackson of Auburn were the only WRs coaches ranked ahead of Beard as recruiters in the 2024 cycle.

Beard and the Miami coaching have a big month of WRs visiting in June. Three-star WR Tyler Williams visited last weekend. Miami is currently the leader for Williams per On3. Four-star WR Dallas Wilson and three-star prospects Joshua Moore, Daylyn Upshaw and Dallas Wilson will visit this weekend.

Four-star athlete Vernell Brown III who is projected as a WR in college will visit Miami on June 11. Homestead four-star WR Cortez Mills who Miami is the favorite for per On3 will visit Miami the weekend of June 21. No other WRs are projected to take official visits to Coral Gables this month.

Beard demonstrated his prowess as a WR coach with Carr, Robinson and Trader signing with Miami in 2024. Expect Beard to continue to thrive as a recruiter in the 2025 class. Miami should be able to pull off at least one surprise at WR in the 2025 class with the work that Beard and offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson are putting in.
