There is a lot of speculation about what is next for five-star guard Boogie Fland after he asked for a release from his National Letter of Intent from Kentucky last week. Fland signed with Kentucky in November. There are other programs on Fland's shortlist, But Miami has been speculated as a potential destination.

Tristan Freeman of Canes Warning's partner site Busting Brackets projected on Monday that Miami could be involved as "NCAA Basketball Recruiting: 8 teams that should target former 5-star Kentucky commit Boogie Fland." Fland played in the McDonald's All-American game earlier this month with 2024 Miami five-star guard signee Jalil Bethea.

Fland and several Kentucky signees are taking trips to Arkansas, where former Kentucky head coach John Calipari is now coaching. Miami signed the 10th best class in the 247 composite rankings. The Hurricanes also signed four-star guard Austin Swartz and three-star forward Isaiah Johnson-Arigu.

The Miami roster is still waiting to hear decisions from starters guard Wooga Poplar and forward Matthew Cleveland. Players have until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday to enter their name into the NBA Draft. Bethea is a projected starter with Nijel Pack at guard in 2024-25.

"Miami Hurricanes
It’s been a strong start to the offseason for the Hurricanes, adding a pair of frontcourt transfers (Lynn Kidd and Brandon Johnson) to the roster. There’s a good amount of depth overall right now, since guards Wooga Poplar and Nijel Pack are back, along with the future addition of 5-star prospect, Jalil Bethea."

Transfer guard Javon Small who led Oklahoma State in scoring visited Miami this week. Small is listed as the top transfer point guard and seventh-best transfer overall per 247 Sports. Fland initially chose Kentucky over primarily Indiana. Alabama was also in Fland's final three programs.

If Miami can somehow sign Fland, their recruiting class would skyrocket to second nationally behind Duke. Fland is a long shot for Miami, but he is a name to watch this spring. Miami potentially targeting Fland could depend whether Small decides to join the Hurricanes.
