On his podcast, ESPN national analyst Greg McElroy said he is leaning towards the over on the 9.5 wins projected for the Miami football team in 2024. McElroy discussed Miami's 2023 season, how they looked last year and the outlook for 2024.

McElroy expects the public to look at the seven wins Miami had last year and doubt him. McElroy also mentioned his doubts about Mario Cristobal. After a 12-13 record in his first two seasons as Miami head coach, Cristobal has assembled a roster that should compete to win 10 games.

Miami's schedule has received consensus analysis that it is set up for a run at an ACC Championship game berth. Games at Florida and Louisville and versus Florida State are the only three Miami will be an underdog. All three should be winnable.

In the other nine games, Miami should be a decisive favorite. Miami has to avoid letdowns in the games they are expected to win. Losses like Georgia Tech in 2023 have become too common for Miami over the last 20 years. Miami cannot put itself in a position to lose games they are big favorites.

McElroy has been an ESPN college football analyst since retiring from the NFL in 2014. McElroy has called several Miami games in recent years. Miami has been discussed frequently during the offseason by McElroy on his podcast.

Among the topics discussed by McElroy are the chances for Cristobal to win a national championship and whether Cam Ward is the quarterback to lead Miami to the top of the ACC. The offseason additions and fourth-ranked recruiting class provide Miami with the talent for a special season.

Miami doubters will be prevalent until they prove them wrong on the field. Miami needs a transformative season. Anything less than an ACC championship will not silence Miami's doubters. The measure of a successful season is subjective. Miami at least needs to compete for an ACC Championship game berth and a spot in the College Football Playoff.
