ESPN College Gameday consensus picks Miami over Florida
Four of the six ESPN College Gameday analysts pick Miami to beat Florida. Miami enters the game in Gainesville as a 2.5-point favorite. Miami lost 24-20 to Florida in Orlando in the 2019 season opener as a 7.5-point underdog. Florida and Miami have had consecutive disappointing seasons in their first two seasons under Billy Napier and Mario Cristobal.
Heisman Trophy Winner Desmond Howard, former NFL and West Virginia punter Pat McAfee, coach Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit return to ESPN College Gameday with host Rece Davis. Nick Saban is new to ESPN College Gameday in 2024 after retiring from Alabama after the 2023 season.
ESPN College Gameday is in College Station, Texas today for Notre Dame at Texas A&M. Texas A&M Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel was the ESPN College Gameday guest picker on Saturday. Manziel is a far more knowledgeable guest than week zero guest picker, WWE wrestler Sheamus.
Howard, Saban, Manziel and Corso (via Herbstreit) picked Miami. McAfee and Herbstreit picked Florida. Miami quarterback Cam Ward was frequently mentioned during the picks by the panel. Howard always goes first in the picks. On Saturday Howard was followed by Saban, McAfee, Manziel, and Herbstreit.
Desmond Howard-Cam Ward I think is going to be the difference in this game he has Damien Martinez behind him as a running back. Ward makes plays late. I am going with the U.
Nick Saban-I hate to pick against either one of my former coaches with Billy and Mario. I do think that Cam Ward is going to be one of the most electric players in college football this year. So I am going to take Miami even though the swamp hard place to play.
Pat McAfee-Florida has to win this game...give me Florida
Johnny Manziel-I think Cam Ward is going to be special. Miami is my pick to come out today
Kirk-Herbstreit for Lee Corso-I got Miami by a field goal
Kirk-Herbstreit-I'm going Florida here in the swamp the respect I have for the home-field advantage I think Graham Mertz is a better QB in a very crowded conf. No one talks much about him. He gained valuable experience a year ago. Eugene Wilson is a freak..all the hype is on Miami I think Florida upsets them
Miami at Florida gets a premiere 3:30 PM kickoff time on ABC. ESPN's second college football announcing team of team Joe Tessitore on play-by-play, Jesse Palmer as the analyst and Katie George as the sideline reporter are on the Miami at Florida game.
