Every Miami Hurricanes athlete who has won an Olympic bronze medal

Five Miami Hurricanes athletes representing three countries in four different sports have won eight bronze medals in the Olympics. Diver Wendy Williams representing the United States was the first Miami athlete to win a bronze medal in the 10-meter platform in the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Williams was the first of two Miami athletes to win a bronze medal in the pool. German swimmer Mark Pinger won bronze medals in 1992 and 1996 in the four by 100m freestyle relays. David Wilkie of Great Britain preceded Pinger as the only Miami male swimmer to win Olympic medals.

Davian Clarke and Gillian Russell are Miami alums who won bronze medals for Jamaica in 1996. Clarke won a bronze medal in the 1996 by-400-meter relay in the first of three Olympic appearances. Russell won a bronze in the four-by-100 meter relay for Jamaica in her second Olympic appearance.

Jennifer Rodriguez is the only multiple time gold medalist in Miami history. Rodriguez was an Olympian in 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010. Rodriguez won both of her bronze medals in the 1,000 and 1,500 meters in speed skating in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.

Rodriguez is one of only two Miami athletes to earn a medal in the Winter Olympics. Sprinter Lauryn Williams won a silver medal in the bobsled in 2014. Rodriguez had a fascinating career that began as an artistic roller skater. After finishing second and third in the world championships in artistic roller skating, Rodriguez switched to inline skating.

After winning a world championship in inline skating, Rodriguez switched to speed skating in 1996. Rodriguez won a gold medal at the 2005 spring championships in Salt Lake City where she won her Olympic Bronze medals. Rodriguez now works as a physician's assistant.
