Every Miami Hurricanes athlete who has won an Olympic Gold medal

Seven Miami Hurricanes athletes have combined to win 10 Olympic Gold Medals.

Seven Miami Hurricanes athletes, over seven Olympic Games, have won 10 gold medals. Greg Louganis, considered the greatest diver in Olympic history, is the most accomplished Miami Olympian. Louganis is the only Miami athlete to win multiple Olympic gold medals.

Greg Louganis, United States, 1976, 1984 and 1988 Diving

Louganis began his Olympic career with a silver medal on the 10-meter platform in Montreal in 1976. Entering the 1980 Moscow Olympics as the favorite, Louganis missed out on competing because of the U.S. Boycott. Louganis won his first two gold medals in the three-meter springboard and 10-meter platform in 1984 in Los Angeles.

Louganis repeated on the three-meter springboard and 10-meter platform at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The gold in the three-meter springboard came after Louganis hit his head on the springboard during one of his dives. Louganis is tied for the most olympic diving medals in history.

Marshall Wayne, United States, 1936 Diving

Marshall Wayne was the first Miami athlete to win a gold medal in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Wayne was also the first Miami athlete to win a medal. Wayne won a Gold medal in the 10-meter platform and a Silver medal in the three-meter springboard in Berlin.

David Wilkie, Great Britain 1972, 1976 Swimming

Wilkie won a Gold in 1976 in Montreal and a Silver in 1972 in Munich in the 200-meter breaststroke and a silver in 1976 in the 100-meter breaststroke. Wilkie was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 1987. At Miami Wilkie won three national championships and was a 13-time all-American.

Mike Fiore United States, 1988 Baseball

Following an accomplished Miami baseball career, Fiore won a gold medal in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, Baseball was a demonstration sport in 1988 in the inaugural year it was in the Olympics. Fiore also played for the U.S. in the 1987 Pan American Games and1988 Baseball World Cup

Kevin Burnham United States 1992, 1996 and 2004 sailing

Burnham did not win a Gold Medal until his third Olympics. Teaming with Paul Foerster, Burnham won a Gold Medal in the 470-two-person dinghy in the 2004 Athens Olympics. Burnham won a Silver Medal in the 470-two-person dinghy in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

Manon van Rooijen, Netherlands 2000 and 2008

After winning a silver medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the four-by-100 meter freestyle, van Rooijen returned eight years later and earned gold in the same event. After not competing in international tournaments in 2004 and 2005, van Rooijen returned in 2006 to begin preparing for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Lauryn Williams United States 2004, 2008 and 2012 2014 Track and field and Bobsled

Lauryn Williams is the only Miami athlete to compete in the Summer and Winter Olympics. Williams won her first medal with a Silver in the 100 meters in the 2004 Athens Olympics. As a part of the four-by-100 meter relay in London in 2012, Williams won her only Gold Medal.

Williams is the only American woman and one of six athletes all-time to win medals in the Summer and Winter Olympics. Williams is the only Miami athlete to compete in the Summer and Winter Olympics.
