Every Miami Hurricanes athlete who has won an Olympic silver medal

Nine Miami Hurricanes athletes have combined to win 10 silver medals in Olympic history.

Beginning with Marshall Wayne in Berlin in 1936 through diver Sam Dorman in 2016 in Rio De Janeiro, nine Miami Hurricanes have won 10 Silver medals in the Olympics. Lauryn Williams is the only Miami athlete to win a medal at the Summer and Winter Olympics.

Marshall Wayne United States 1936 Diving

Wayne began his career at Venetian Pool in Coral Gables. Jon Wertheim of Sports Illustrated profiled Wayne in 2015. Wayne was incredibly patriotic and the blond-haired, blue-eyed star was patriotic to the United States while being loved by Aryans in Germany. Wayne was the first Miami athlete to compete in the Olympics and win a medal.

David Wilkie Great Britain 1972 and 1976 Swimming

It was another 36 years before a Miami athlete won a medal in the Olympics. Wilkie began his Miami career in 1973 after winning Silver medals in the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke in the 1972 Munich Olympics. Those were two of the three career medals for Wilikie who also won Gold in the 100-meter breaststroke in Montreal.

Greg Louganis United States 1976, 1984 and 1988 Diving

Greg Louganis began his Olympic career as the best diver in history with a Silver medal in the 10 meter platform in 1976. Louganis missed the 1980 Moscow Olympics because of the U.S. Boycott. Competing in 1984 in Los Angeles and 1988 in Seoul, Louganis won gold in the three and 10-meter platform.

Kevin Burnham United States 1992, 1996 and 2004 Sailing

Sailor Kevin Burnham made it three consecutive Olympics for a Miami alum winning a medal. Burnham won the Silver in the 470-two-person dinghy with Morgan Reeser in 1992. Burnham won a gold medal in the 2004 470- two-person dinghy with Paul Foerster in Athens.

Manon van Rooijen Netherlands 2000, 2008 Swimming

van Rooijen won a Silver Medal in the four-by-100 meter relay in the 2000 Olympics a year before enrolling at Miami. Dutch legend Inge de Bruijn, Wilma van Hofwegen and Thamar Henneken swam the other legs of the relay for the Netherlands. van Rooijan returned in 2006 after two years off and won gold in the 4X100 in 2008.

Lauryn Williams United States 2004, 2008, 2012, 2014 Track and Bobsled

Williams won Gold in the Londo 2012, four by 100 meter relay, Silver in 2004 in Athens in the 100 meters and Silver in Sochi in 2014 in Bobsled. Williams was a nine-time All-American at Miami and was the first American woman to win medals in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.

Zach Railey United States 2008 and 2012 Sailing

Railey won a Silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the Finn-heavyweight dinghy mixed. Railey was the United States representative in the Finn and earned the Silver medal out of 26 competitors to become the second Miami alum to win an Olympic sailing medal.

Kelci Bryant United States 2008 and 2012 Diving

Bryant won a Silver medal in the 2012 three-meter synchronized platform diving with Abigail Johnston in London. Bryant's sister Sister, Katie Beth, was a two-time All-America diver for Miami from 2000 through 2002. Bryant and Williams were the sole Miami medalists in 2012.

Sam Dorman United States 2016 Diving

Before earning a Silver Medal in the Rio De Janeiro Olympics, Dorman won the 2015 NCAA three-meter individual championship with a record score of 529.10 points. Dorman teamed with Michael Hixon to win the Silver in the three-meter synchronized diving in Rio.

Thirteen Miami athletes in six different sports are participating in the Paris Olympics hoping to become the next Hurricane to win a medal. Dorman was the last Miami athlete to win a medal. Three Miami divers are competing in Paris.
