Four-star 2025 RB Byron Louis visiting Miami football this weekend
Four-star running back Byron Louis posted to his X account on Tuesday that he "will be at the University of Miami this weekend." This will be Louis' ninth visit to the Miami football program per his On3 profile. Central Florida, Georgia and Ohio State are the only other programs Louis has taken multiple visits with.
Louis is the 198th prospect, 14th RB and 29th player in Florida in the 2024 recruiting class. Louis has also visited Alabama and Florida State in March. The trip to Coral Gables is short for the Fort Lauderdale American Heritage Star. Ohio State was the favorite for Louis but lost RBs coach Tony Alford to Michigan.
Louis played behind Mark Fletcher, the projected starting RB for Miami in 2024. In his first year as a starter, Louis ran for 1,224 rushing yards, averaging 7.7 yards per carry, with 18 touchdowns and five 100-yard games. Louis has been a minimal contributor as a receiver out of the backfield.
Miami received a commitment from four-star 2025 Seffner, Armwood RB Girard Pringle Saturday. Miami signed four-star RB Jordan Lyle and three-star Chris Wheatley-Humphrey in the 2024 class at RB. Miami lost 2022 and 2023, leading rusher Henry Parrish to the transfer portal earlier this month.
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine projects Ohio State with a 63.9 percent chance for a commitment from Louis with Miami at 32.2 percent. Those numbers could shift dramatically with Alford leaving for Michigan. Miami RBs coach Matt Merritt is leading the recruitment for Louis.
Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson is listed as the secondary recruiter for Louis. There is no information about when Louis will take his official visits or make a commitment. Miami could begin to emerge as the favorite for Louis with the coaching chance at Ohio State and the Hurricanes making him a priority.
