How Miami football signees performed at Under Armour All-American Game
Miami football signees Ryan Mack, Booker Pickett Jr. and Joshisa Trader all helped Team Ice to a 39-9 win over Team Fire in the Under Armour All-American Game in Orlando on Wednesday. Linebacker Adarius Hayes was on Team Fire. Mack and Pickett Jr. were among the most dominant players in the Under Armour All-American Game.
Pickett had four tackles, tied for a game-leading 2.5 tackles for loss, was the only player in the game with two sacks, had two quarterback hurries and a forced fumble. Mack had one tackle and was one of only two players with multiple pass breakups, finishing with a game-high three.
Trader had one reception for six yards and occasionally played defense. Hayes did not reach the stat sheet. Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U added that Mack did not allow a reception in five targets against him. Pickett was named as the fourth-best performer in the Under Armour All-American Game by On3 and Mack was seventh.
Mack and Pickett Jr. were part of a Team Ice defense that allowed 163 total yards and had three interceptions, including two pick-sixes. The forced fumble by Pickett was one of three by Team Ice, but Fire did not lose any of their fumbles. On3 said, "No pass rusher was more dynamic thanBooker Pickett."
On3 stated, "Ryan Mack made a strong case as the most technically proficient cornerback at Under Armour." Mack is one of four Miami signees from St. Thomas Aquinas with four-star WR Chance Robinson, four-star running back Jordan Lyle and three-star CB Romanas Frederique Jr.
Andrew Ivins of 247Sports named Trader to the"Under Armour All-America Game: 13 prospects primed for immediate impacts as true freshmen in CFB's 2024 season." Ivins said, "Trader proved to be one of the best at creating separation and tracked the football extremely well, making a few highlight reel-worthy snags in the end zone."
Trader is part of a deep Miami WR corps in the 2024 class with Robinson and four-star Ny Carr out of Georgia who is the highest-rated Hurricanes' wideout signee. There should be opportunities for the Miami freshmen WRs to make an impact in 2024.
Miami 2024 signees, five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott, four-star prospects, edge rusher Marquise Lightfoot, safety Zaquan Patterson and Carr and three-star offensive lineman Deryc Plazz will participate in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio on Saturday. The game kicks off at 1 PM ET on NBC.
