Wide receiver Sam Brown reposted the news from On3 transfer portal expert Pete Nakos saying "Wowwww" that his former Houston teammate, cornerback Isaiah Hamilton has entered the transfer portal. Could Brown be lobbying for Brown to follow his lead and transfer to the Miami football program?

Brown transferred to Miami over the weekend. Hamilton entered the transfer portal in December before withdrawing. After three seasons at Texas Southern, Hamilton played his lone season with Houston in 2023. Hamilton had 50 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, eight pass breakups and a forced fumble in 2023.

The transfers by Brown and Hamilton occurred after Houston replaced Dana Holgersen with Willie Fritz as head coach following a 4-8 season. Houston joined the Big XII in 2023. Expect Miami to target CBs after the deadline to enter the spring transfer portal ended on Tuesday. Miami needs to add CB depth.

At 6'1 and 175 pounds, Hamilton would provide Miami with another CB with length. Damari Brown at 6'2 and Darryl Porter Jr. at 5'10 are the projected starting CBs for Miami in 2024. Hamilton would have a chance to compete to be the third CB in the Miami rotation in 2024.

Hamilton is ranked by On3 as the 79th transfer overall and 10th CB. Miami currently has 13 incoming transfers. That includes Brown and Marshall CB Dyoni Hill, who announced their transfers to Miami on Sunday. Hill could compete to be the third CB for Miami but is not as highly rated as Hamilton.

The transfer of safety Savion Riley could force Miami to use Washington transfer Mishael Powell at safety more than slot CB where he played this spring. Expect Miami to add another defensive back through the portal. After Hamilton tweeted he is thinking about Alabama, Michigan, Mississippi and Missouri, Miami appears to be a long shot.
