After flipping running back Mark Fletcher from Ohio State in the 2023 class, Mario Cristobal and the Miami football staff did it again. Four-star RB Jordan Lyle announced his commitment to Miami about 36 hours before the Early National Signing Period begins on Wednesday. Miami moves up to the sixth-ranked class nationally with the addition of Lyle.

The flip from Lyle had been projected since last week. Lyle took his official visit to Miami this weekend. The 247 Sports Composite rankings list Lyle as the 145th prospect, 11th RB and 20th player in Florida out of St. Thomas Aquinas. Miami has completely flipped the script on gaining commitments from St. Thomas Aquinas.

Lyle is the second player Miami has flipped from Ohio State in the 2024 class. Five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott out of Chicago St. Ignatius switched his commitment from Ohio State to Miami last month. Despite the flip from Lyle to Miami, Ohio State remains the second-best 2024 class.

Lyle joins four-star RB Kevin Riley and three-star Chris Wheatley-Humphrey in the Miami backfield in the 2024 class. Riley visited Alabama this weekend. Lyle provides insurance in the 2024 class if Riley flips to Alabama. Miami has three more potential flips this week when the Early National Signing period ends on Friday.

Miami is trending for a flip from five-star DL Armondo Blount from Florida State. Four-star linebacker Adarius Hayes from Florida and three-star cornerback Xavier Lucas from Wisconsin are other potential prospects that Miami could flip this week. Miami is edging towards signing a top five 2024 class.

Lyle had 2,616 rushing yards, 10-yard games, 35 touchdowns, 21 receptions for 287 and another two TDs in three seasons for St. Thomas Aquinas. Miami is building an elite RB unit. Ajay Allen, Fletcher, Chris Johnson and Henry Parrish are expected to return for Miami at RB in 2024. Lyle provides nice size at 6'0 and 180 pounds.
