Luke Nickel fourth Miami football Elite 11 finalist since 2019
Luke Nickel is the latest quarterback from the Miami football program invited to the Elite 11 finals. Nickel was the first 2025 Miami commit when he pledged to the Hurricanes on August 11, 2023. Nickel is currently the 288th-ranked prospect, 25th QB and 35th player in Georgia in the 2025 class in the 247Sports composite rankings.
Elite 11 was founded in 1999 and according to the official website is held for the top QBs nationally to "compete and improve their skill set both on and off-the-field." Nickel was one of two QBs selected as 2023 second-team junior All-Americans by Max Preps.
Tyler VanDyke, Jacurri Brown and Emory Williams were the most recent Miami QBs that participated in the Elite 11. Van Dyke participated in the 2019 Elite 11, Brown in 2021 and Williams in 2022. Van Dyke transferred to Wisconsin and Brown to Central Florida ahead of the 2024 season.
Four five-star QBs, 11 four-stars, including Nickel and three three-star signal callers are participating in the 2024 Elite 11. Bryce Underwood, the top player and QB in the 2025 rankings is not participating at Elite 11. Underwood is the only five-star QB not participating in Elite 11.
There are 23 four-star QBs in the 2025 class. Nickel is 20th among the four-star 2025 QBs. Nickel has risen through the 2025 class over the past year and will be a recruit to watch through Early National Signing Day in December. Nickel gained a fourth-star since committing to Miami last August.
Nickel threw for 6,421 yards and completed 62,7 percent of his passes with 63 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in the last two seasons. Nickel led Milton to a state title in the highest classification in Georgia in 2023. Nickel is one of seven 2025 Miami commits and the only one from Georgia.
