During his visit with the Miami football program on Thursday, Oregon State running back Damien Martinez posted "503 to the 305?😮‍💨" on X while holding a Hurricanes badge. Martinez will not officially begin his visit to Miami until Friday. The Miami coaching staff made two in-home visits with Martinez this week.

Before his visit to Miami, Martinez has been to Arizona and Mississippi. Kentucky will host Martinez next week. Miami is the consensus favorite to receive a commitment from Martinez. In two seasons at Oregon State, Martinez ran for 2,167 yards and 16 touchdowns and had 11 receptions for 126 yards.

Martinez was the third-highest-rated player available in the transfer portal as of late Thursday night. Martinez is the 34th-rated 2024 transfer overall. Miami has a big weekend hosting transfers that includes Martinez. Houston wide receiver Sam Brown is among the other transfers reportedly visiting Miami this weekend.

A combination of Brown and Martinez would add another pair of explosive playmakers for quarterback Cam Ward who transferred to Miami from Washington State in January. Miami needs to add depth and experience at RB and WR. The Hurricanes lost RBs Tre'Vonte Citizen and Henry Parrish as transfers after spring practice.

Martinez appears to be relaxed, awaiting his critical weekend. Ward has been a leader during his three months in Coral Gables. The connection Ward makes with Brown and Martinez this weekend will be essential to their decisions. Miami has the potential for an explosive offense by pairing Brown and Martinez with Ward and WRs Jacolby George and Xavier Restrepo.

Louisville linebacker Jaylin Alderman and Marshall cornerback Dyoni Hill are other transfers visiting Miami this weekend. Miami could receive several commitments with a half dozen transfers visiting within the next week. Miami currently has the 35th-ranked transfer class. That should move up significantly soon.
