Miami fell one spot in the Associated Press Top 25 and moved up one in the USA Today Coaches polls and is ranked eight nationally in both for week six. Oregon and Penn State passed Miami in the AP Top 25. Miami is the highest-ranked team in both polls and not in the Big 10 or SEC.
Miami received 1,170 points in the AP Top 25. Oregon has 1,216 points in the AP Top 25 and Penn State has 1,208. The Hurricanes had 981 points in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Miami moved up one spot in the USA Today Coaches poll after Mississippi fell six spots following their home loss to Kentucky.
Oregon is sixth in the USA Today Coaches Poll with 1,090 points and Penn State is seventh with 1.062 points. Miami is slightly ahead of Missouri who is eighth nationally with 948 points. The top 10 teams in both polls are the same. Alabama is first in the AP Top 25 and Texas Tops the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Ohio State, Tennessee and Georgia are third through fifth. Georgia fell three spots in the AP Top 25 and four in the USA Today Coaches poll after their loss at Alabama. Nine SEC teams are ranked in the Top 25. Clemson who is ranked 15/14 and Louisville who is 22nd in both polls are the only other ACC teams in the Top 25.
Louisville fell seven spots in the AP Top 25 and five in the USA Today Coaches Poll after losing at Notre Dame. After playing at California and a bye Miami has arguably its biggest game of the regular season at Louisville on October 19. Duke who is 5-0 is the only other 2024 Miami opponent to receive votes this week.
Miami learned on Saturday they will be a major focus this week when ESPN College Gameday goes to Berkeley for their game at California. The Hurricanes and Bears will play half their game on Sunday morning with a 10:30 PM Eastern Time kickoff on ESPN.
