Miami will play one of the latest games in program history when they are at California on Friday night. The Hurricanes are 5-0 for the first time since 2017. California is 3-1 and coming off of a bye week. ESPN College Gameday will be live from Berkeley for the first time from 9-12 Eastern time on Saturday morning.

Miami enters the game on Saturday ranked eighth in both polls. The Hurricanes fell one spot in the Associated Press Top 25 and moved up one in the USA Today Coaches poll. California beat UC-Davis, Auburn and San Diego State before losing at Florida State to begin the 2024 season.

Miami enters the game at California 1-0 in the ACC after their 38-34 win versus Virginia Tech last week. California is 0-1 in the ACC. Miami was picked third in the ACC in the preseason media polls. With preseason favorite Florida State 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the ACC, Miami is currently the favorite to win the conference.

California is currently ninth out of 16 teams in the ACC per the ESPN Football Power Index. Miami is ranked 10th in the FPI with Clemson 12th and Louisville 13th. Miami has a bye week after California and then is at Louisville on October 19. Clemson and Miami do not play in the 2024 regular season.

How to watch Miami at California

Dave Flemming and Brock Osweiler will call the game for ESPN. Stormy Buonantony was the sideline reported who worked with Flemming and Osweiler last week. Miami is appearing on ESPN for the third straight week. California will be appearing on ESPN for the third time this season.

Miami is a 10.5 point favorite at California per FanDuel. The moneyline is minus 250 for Miami and plus 275 for California. The over/under is 54.5. Fan Duel sets the over at minus 108 and the under at minus 112. The 10.5 point spread is the second lowest for Miami this season. Miami was a 2.5-point favorite at Florida.

California is an underdog for only the second time this season. Auburn was a 12.5 point favorite over California. California beat Auburn 21-14. The over/under is the second lowest for a 2024 Miami game. The total was 54.0 versus Florida. At 54.5 the total is the second highest for a 2024 California game.

Miami at California injury report

Mario Cristobal announced on the Joe Rose Show on Monday that defensive lineman Rueben Bain "is a go" versus California and left tackle Jalen Rivers is game-time decision. There was no update on cornerback Damari Brown or left guard Ryan Rodriguez.

Per TeamRankings.Com California running Justin Williams-Thomas and wide receivers Kyion Grayes and Tobias Merriweather are listed as questionable. Merriweather is not expected to play versus Miami. Graves, Merriweather and Williams-Thomas have not recorded any state for California this season.

Miami at California series history

California and Miami have split four games in their series history. Miami won 52-24 in the only game played in Berkeley. California won the last meeting 24-17 in the Emerald Bowl in the Stadium then known as AT&T Park in San Francisco. California played in Miami in 1964 and 1989.
