The Miami baseball team is second all-time in appearances as the 2024 College World Series commences in Omaha on Thursday. Miami has not made a College World Series appearance since 2016. The Hurricanes have 25 College World Series appearances all-time.
Texas leads with 38 College World Series appearances. Ron Fraser elevated the Miami baseball program. Fraser led Miami to the first 20 NCAA Tournament appearances in program history. The first NCAA Tournament appearance was in 1971. Miami made the College World Series in its third NCAA Tournament appearance in 1974.
Miami finished runner-up to USC in 1974. The Hurricanes returned to the College World Series in 1978. That began a five-year run to Omaha. Miami finished 61-10 at the end of that run, culminating with the first College World Series title in program history in 1982.
Fraser retired in 1992 with a record of 1,271–438–9. Fittingly, Fraser's last game as Miami's head coach was in the College World Series. Later that year, Fraser led the United States national baseball team to a silver medal in the Barcelona Olympics.

Miami returned to the College World Series during the inaugural season under Jim Morris in 1994. Under Morris, Miami finished 1,090–472–3 with two national championships, one runner-up and 13 appearances in the College World Series. Miami made the College World Series in the first six years under Morris.
Miami is tied for fifth all-time with Arizona and Cal State Fullerton winning four College World Series titles. Florida State (1979-2022) and Miami (1973-2016) share the record with 44 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Vanderbilt is the current leader with 18 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
Miami has not won an NCAA Tournament Regional since 2016. The Hurricanes have four NCAA Baseball Tournament appearances since the streak ended in 2017. Miami hosted a regional in 2021 and 2022. J.D. Arteaga just finished his first season as Miami baseball coach in 2024.
