Miami basketball alum Jordan Miller is one of the elite players in the NBA Summer League this week in Las Vegas. Through the Los Angeles Clippers' first three games, Miller is one of the most efficient players in the NBA Summer League. Miller has a chance to earn a roster spot with the Clippers in 2024-25.
Miller is second in the NBA Summer League averaging 26.7 points per game through three games and is shooting 54.5 percent from the floor, 57.1 percent on three-point attempts, making 80.0 percent of his free throw attempts and averaging 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
Miller is second in the NBA Summer League in scoring. The Clippers and San Antonio Spurs are the only teams in the NBA Summer League with a 3-0 record. In the Summer League opener versus Denver, Miller had a breakout game with 36 points and five rebounds while shooting 11-18 from the floor and 6-10 from three and 8-8 from the free throw line.
Miller has been consistent and hot through the first three games for the Clippers in the summer league. After the 36 point game versus Denver, Miller scored 21 in the Clippers' second summer league game versus the Brooklyn Nets and 23 against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night.
Miller was on a two-way contract in his rookie season with the Clippers. In eight games with the Clippers in 2023-24, Miller averaged 1.6 PPG, playing 3.5 minutes. In 23 games with the Ontario Clippers in the G-League in 2023-24. Miller averaged 22.5 PPG, 6.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals.
Minutes on the wing are opening up in Los Angeles. Paul George left the Clippers to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. Russell Westbrook is expected to be waived by the Clippers per Shams Charnia of the Athletic. George and Westbrook's departures would open up significant minutes for wings like Miller.
Moving into the new Intuit Dome for the 2024-25 season, Miller has a chance to be a key player for the Clippers. Miller's efficiency in the NBA Summer League is exactly how he played during his two seasons with Miami. Miller could earn a full roster spot for the 2024-25 season.
