The Miami basketball team will attempt to end a six game losing streak on Monday night at North Carolina. Miami has not lost seven straight games since 2007. The game in Chapel Hill is the penultimate road game of the season for Miami. Miami ends the season on March 9 at Florida State.

Miami has not won since an 82-74 win over Virginia Tech on February 3. The last road win for Miami was a 73-61 win at Notre Dame on January 24. Miami will hope to finish the season strongly before beginning ACC Tournament play next month. Miami will play its last home game on March 3 versus Boston College.

North Carolina is having a resurgent season. The Tar Heels are ranked 10th and ninth in the national polls after missing the 2023 NCAA Tournament. North Carolina is first in the ACC. Miami enters the game versus North Carolina 12th in the ACC. The Hurricanes were picked second in the preseason poll behind Duke.

North Carolina won 75-72 at Miami earlier this month. The Tar Heels won 54-44 at Virginia on Saturday. The Bracket Matrix projects North Carolina as a two-seed in the NCAA Tournament. Beating North Carolina would help build some positive momentum for Miami entering March.

Prediction

Miami might be able to cover the 13.5-point spread. Nijel Pack was confirmed out on Monday morning. Covering the spread will be more difficult without Pack. The safest pick on Monday night is to bet on North Carolina and the money line. It's nearly impossible to see any path for Miami to beat North Carolina.

Expect a fast pace. The over is more likely than the under. The over has hit in two of the last three Miami games and four of the previous six North Carolina contests. North Carolina beat Miami 75-72 with a total of 161 when the teams played earlier this month in Coral Gables. Miami has to avoid scoring droughts versus UNC.

Miami will be off until March 3, when they host Boston College after playing North Carolina on Monday night. The late bye week for Miami doesn't help at this stage. A bye earlier in the season would have been far more advantageous, with Miami suffering through injuries for most of the ACC season.
