The Miami basketball team learned their 2024-25 conference opponents from the ACC on Thursday. Miami will host Clemson, Duke, Florida State, NC State, Notre Dame, SMU, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. Miami will play at Boston College, Cal, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, Pitt, Stanford and Virginia Tech

The additions of California, SMU and Stanford means ACC basketball programs will play three fewer opponents in home and homes beginning next season. Miami will play Duke, Florida State and Virginia Tech at home and on the road. The complete ACC basketball schedule with game dates is usually announced in December.

Per the ACC, conference programs will play home and away versus each of the school's current partners. Miami plays Florida State and Virginia Tech home and away each season. Each season on repeat opponent will be on the schedule for a home-and-away. For Miami that is Duke in 2024-25.

The remainder of the schedule will be seven games versus teams only at home and the other seven on the road. The ACC is continuing with a 15-team conference tournament in 2025. With 17 teams in the ACC in all sports but football beginning next season, the bottom three teams in basketball will not play in the conference tournament.

Miami will be playing California for the first time in 2024-25. SMU defeated Miami both times the teams met. The Mustangs won 93-88 in double overtime in 1990 in Dallas and 69-60 in Miami in 199. Miami is 2-2 all-time versus Stanford. The Hurricanes beat the Cardinal 71-58 at Palm Beach Hurricane Classic West Palm Beach in 1986.

Miami lost 93-59 at Stanford in 1989, 66-64 in OT in the National Invitation Tournament Championship Game at Madison Square Garden in New York in 2015 and won 67-53 in the AdvoCare Invitational in Orlando in 2017. Miami set the program record with eight blocked shots versus Stanford in 2015.

Teams who play California and Stanford will have a two-game road trip to the Bay Area. California, SMU and Stanford will play a home-and-home every season, plus a third team. The schedule for Miami is challenging. Games at Duke and UNC, in all three ACC time zones and from Boston to Palm Alto are unprecedented for Miami.
