After transferring to East Carolina in 2021-22, Johnson started all 63 games for the Pirates in the last two seasons. Johnson averaged 14.0 PPG, shot 36.5 percent on threes last season and averaged 8.0 RPG in the last two seasons.

Blackmon is projected to start with Nijel Pack in the backcourt for Miami. Blackmon led the Atlantic Sun Conference and was 14th nationally, averaging 21.3 points per game in 2023–24.
