Miami basketball record versus potential 2024 Charleston Classic opponents

The Miami basketball program has previously played four of its seven potential opponents in the 2024 Charleston Classic. Drake, Florida Atlantic, Nevada, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall, Vanderbilt, and Virginia Commonwealth make up the other seven teams playing in the 2024 Charleston Classic.

Miami has previously played, Drake, Florida Atlantic, Seton Hall and Virginia Commonwealth. Miami has never played Nevada, Oklahoma State or Vanderbilt. This is the fourth Charleston Classic Miami will play in. Miami won the 2009 and 2014 Charleston Classic and finished fourth in 2019.

Drake is the team Miami played the most recently among the programs that will compete in the 2024 Charleston Classic. Miami had a 63-56 comeback win over Drake in the 2023 NCAA Tournament First Round on their way to the Final Four. That was the only meeting between Miami and Drake.

Seton Hall is the most frequent opponent for Miami among the programs that will play in the Charleston Classic. Miami is 8-16 all-time versus Seton Hall. Miami and Seton Hall played 20 times as Big East rivals. The Hurricanes are 1-3 versus the Pirates in non-conference games.

Miami lost the last four games to Seton Hall. The Pirates won the most recent game 83-81 in the 2018 Wooden Legacy Championship Game in Fullerton, California. Miami last defeated Seton Hall 72-66 on February 1, 2001. Seton Hall leads the all-time series versus Miami 3-0 on neutral courts

Miami is 25-1 all-time versus Florida Atlantic. Miami is 3-0 versus Florida Atlantic on neutral courts. The Hurricanes beat the Owls in 1989, 2009 and 2011 on neutral courts. Miami won 68-66 over FAU in 2021 during the Hurricanes and Owls' last meeting in Boca Raton.

Miami is 3-1 all-time versus Virginia Commonwealth. The Hurricanes beat the Rams in 1988, 1991 and 2007. Miami beat VCU 69-63 in 2008 at the Puerto Rico Tipoff Classic in their only neutral site meeting. Miami head coach Jim Larranaga played VCU annually when he coached George Mason.

The Charleston Classic bracket and television schedule will be announced at a later date. The first two games for each team in the Charleston Classic will be played on November 21 and 22 with the third on November 24 after a day off. That is the weekend before Thanksgiving.
