Miami consensus College Football Playoff pick from ESPN writers
Ten out of the 15 writers ESPN asked "Who's most likely to make the playoff field?" named Miami in an article published on Thursday. The College Football Playoff selects the top five conference winners and seven wildcards. Miami has a 17.3 percent chance to make the College Football Playoff per the ESPN Football Power Index.
None of the 10 ESPN writers pick Miami to reach the semifinals. The ESPN writers picked the 12 teams to make the semifinals but did not make quarterfinal projections. No one on the 2024 Miami schedule it picked to reach the College Football Playoff by the ESPN writers.
The Allstate Playoff Predictor projected Florida State with a 36 percent chance to reach the College Football Playoff entering the season. After the Week Zero loss to Georgia Tech Florida's State chance to earn a College Football Playoff berth dropped to 13 percent per the Allstate Playoff Predictor.
The Allstate Playoff Predictor gives Miami an 18 percent chance to reach the College Football Playoff. After Florida State lost to Georgia Tech last week, Miami's three toughest games in 2024 per the Allstate Playoff Predictor are at Florida, California and Louisville. That starts on Saturday in Gainesville.
