Miami continues dominance in post week 4 State of Florida power rankings
Miami continued to assert its will over the State of Florida with a 50-15 win at South Florida on Saturday. With the win, Miami is 4-0 overall, 3-0 against Florida teams and 2-0 versus FBS programs in the Sunshine State. Central Florida remains the other undefeated team in Florida with a 3-0 record.
The Knights had a bye in week three. Miami remains first and Central Florida second in the State of Florida post-week four power rankings. Results from week four shook up the teams ranked third through seventh in the Florida Power Rankings. Florida and USF are now 2-2 and FAU, FIU and Florida State are all 1-3.
Florida earned a critical 45-28 SEC win at Mississippi State. Florida State won its first game of the 2024 season 14-9 over California in Tallahassee. Florida Atlantic lost 48-14 at Connecticut. Florida International lost inexplicably 45-42 to FCS Monmouth at home on Saturday.
Florida moves up to third in the Sunshine State Power Rankings with the win over Mississippi State. Florida State moves up three spots to fourth with their victory. South Florida fell one place after the blowout loss to Miami. FAU and FIU are sixth and seventh among Florida FBS teams with their poor losses.

Central Florida and Miami are teams to watch as potential College Football Playoff teams. The ESPN Football Power Index gives Miami a 68.2 percent chance to make the College Football Playoff. Central Florida is given a 33.2 percent chance to make the College Football Playoff per the FPI.
South Florida at 83.7 percent is the only other team in Florida projected by the FPI to reach six wins and qualify for a bowl game. As the season progresses South Florida seems likely to return to the third spot in the State of Florida Power Rankings. Florida has the third toughest remaining schedule behind Georgia and Mississippi State.
